Ridgewood Social Services in Need

Friends,

As you know, we at First Pres are in the middle of a March Food Drive to benefit the clients of the Social Service Association of Ridgewood and Vicinity. The drive is sponsored by our Christian Education Committee.

On Monday, Sandy and Maddy Santangelo delivered the food we have collected to date to SSA. Sandy offers this feedback: “Maddy and I stayed there for three hours, helping by wiping down every item donated with disinfectant wipes. Good news is that they received a lot of donations including a Girl Scout Troop’s donations. But they are still low .... While Maddy and I were there, about 20 clients came, and they were all allowed one pre-packed bag of food. Many asked for more, but she couldn’t do it - really puts things into perspective.”

Friends, since the church building is now closed in response to the coronavirus and the need for social distancing, I ask that you consider taking additional food donations directly to SSA @ Six Station Plaza, Ridgewood, NJ 07450.

SSA hours this week:

Tuesday       9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday   9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Thursday       9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Friday           Closed

Needed items:

Canned hams

Spam

Canned Chicken

Other canned meat

Pasta sauce

Jam

Crackers

Paper towels

Cold cereal

We have neighbors who need food. Let us respond to that need by sharing the food we have - a practical way to live out God’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Thank you!

Grace and peace,

Bruce
