Dear Friends,
It is late October as I write this. Which means that the autumn foliage is a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, it now gets dark by 6:00 p.m., millions of baseball fans are glued to their TVs to watch the World Series, and in countless churches across the United States, stewardship season is upon us.
This year at First Pres, our 2026 Stewardship Campaign will begin on Sunday, November 2, and will reflect the theme: Grace, Gratitude and Giving.
On three successive Sundays beginning November 2, members of Session will offer a Minute for Ministry, reflecting on what giving to God’s work through First Presbyterian Church means to them.
And on three successive Sundays beginning November 9, my sermons will help us connect the dots between God’s grace and gifts to us, our response of gratitude, and our acts of giving and generosity.
We have designated Sunday, November 23 as Giving Sunday. On that day, at the conclusion of the service, worshipers will have the opportunity to complete a pledge (estimate of giving) card and place it in an offering plate as an act of worship. Following the service, all are invited to attend a catered luncheon to celebrate the conclusion of the campaign.
We give because we believe in what God is doing through us. Your gifts in 2026 will help us make ministry possible every week, enable us to raise the next generation in the faith, allow us to keep our building open and welcoming, and help us live out our calling to be a Matthew 25 congregation.
My request, as your pastor, is that you will plan to join us for worship on each Sunday morning in November and that you will prayerfully consider what God is calling you to contribute to God’s work through First Presbyterian Church in 2026.
Thank you!
Grace and peace,
Bruce
